FRC provides resource and referral from a number of national, statewide and local agencies and organizations. To receive these resources and referrals Families just need to contact their local Family Health Partner or the main Family Resource Coalition, Inc office. Resources and Referrals would include but are not limited to: IEP assistance, Medication assistance, Specific Special Health Care Need information, Referrals to National organizations, Literature about many different Special Health Care Needs, etc. If we do not have a resource or referral option, we will refer a family to where they can receive that information. Statewide Resource List ARC-Florida- Provides advocacy, information, technical support, and education to benefit people with developmental disabilities and their families. Autism Society of Florida- Provides information, education, and advocacy. Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program of Florida, Inc.,- Assists individuals with brain injuries, their families and professionals by providing Statewide Information and Resource Center, Education and Training Support Services, Toll-free Help line, Awareness and Prevention Programs, and Legislative Advocacy. back to top Children's Home Society of Florida- Provides services regarding children birth to 18 yrs. old in the areas of adoption, foster placement/fostering families, emergency shelters for children, group residential facilities, family-centered, home-based programs to assist families with life skills, i.e., Healthy Start and Healthy Families, Court approved visitation centers, family-individual counseling, crisis intervention, and pregnancy counseling. back to top Children's Medical Services Network- provides a comprehensive continuum of medical and supporting services to medically and financially eligible children and high-risk pregnant women. The continuum of care includes prevention and early intervention programs, primary care, medical and therapeutic specialty care and long-term care to children with special healthcare needs from birth to 21 yrs. of age. back to top Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation- There goal is to increase the proficiency of all students within one seamless, efficient system, by providing them with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities and research valued by students, parents, and communities, and to maintain an accountability system that measures student progress. back to top Easter Seals of Florida- Easter Seals provides services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families. Primary Easter Seals services include Medical Rehabilitation, Early Intervention, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Hearing Therapy, Job Training and Employment, Child Care,
Adult Day Services, Camping and Recreation. Easter Seals also advocates for the passage of legislation to help people with disabilities achieve independence. back to top Family Network on Disabilities of Florida- A statewide network of families and individuals of all ages who may be at-risk, have disabilities, or have special needs and their families, professionals, and concerned citizens. Their mission is to ensure through collaboration that Floridians have full access to family-driven support, education, information, resources, and advocacy and to serve families of children with disabilities, ages birth through 26, who have the full range of disabilities described in
section 602(3) of IDEA. back to top Family Resource Coalition, Inc.- Dedicated professionals working with families of children and youth with special health care needs ages Birth-21. Primary goal is to educate and support families in the area of advocacy skills, resources and information. In addition, families will be empowered and able to navigate the system of care in order to receive the services that their child needs in order to reach their potential. back to top Family Voices Inc.- A national, grassroots clearinghouse for information and education concerning the health care of children with special health needs. back to top Florida Agency for Health Care Administration- Provides information regarding Medicaid and managed care (HMOs). Monitors health facilities and providers, as well as daycare facilities for children and adults. Provides the licensing and certification standards for health care facilities. Manages complaints regarding facilities and providers. back to top Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST)- Works with consumers, family members, caregivers, providers and agencies to ensure that individuals with disabilities continue to benefit from assistive technology as they move between home, school, work and the community. They assist in providing, hands on assistive technology demonstrations and trainings, financing for assistive technology, assistive device lending programs, community outreach to rural and underserved groups, accessible, affordable housing, and advocacy and education. back to top Florida Alliance for Information and Referral Services (FLAIRS)- A statewide association of agencies and individuals committed to the provision of quality information, referral and hotline services. Our members include United Ways, crisis hotlines, libraries, military service centers, elder helplines, child care resource and referral providers, and others who provide hotline and information services. back to top Florida Association of Centers for Independent Living (FACIL)- A networking, capacity building, advocacy organization of Centers for Independent Living (CILs). CILs work to empower persons with disabilities to take charge of their lives and guide their own destinies. In addition, CIL staff, boards and consumers work together to remove barriers and prejudices in society so that all individuals can live and work and enjoy all that their community has to offer. Fifty-one percent of the staff and boards of CILs are person with disabilities, which means that they play significant roles in the decision-making responsibilities of the Centers. back to top Florida Association for Behavior Analysis- The Florida Association for Behavior Analysis was founded in 1980 to promote the ethical, humane, and effective application of behavior principles in settings ranging from the community group home to the corporate boardroom. Offering the best in continuing education is one of our primary goals. back to top Florida Association for Person in Supported Employment- A training resource and web forum for developmentally disabled persons needing training in the area of employment. back to top Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities(ARF)-ÊA statewide, professional industry association that provides advocacy, information, and networking for individuals with disabilities and the community agencies that serve them. Florida ARF is a leader in the initiation of public policy change to promote and protect the interests of individuals with disabilities as well as the community agencies that provide quality services to individuals with disabilities. The FICCIT plays a very important role in the decision making process for the children and their families in the state of Florida. back to top Florida KidCare- Is our states children's health insurance program for uninsured children under age 19. It is made up of four parts: MediKids, Healthy Kids, the Children's Medical Services (CMS) Network for children with special health care needs, and Medicaid for children. When you apply for the insurance, Florida KidCare will check which program your child may be eligible for based on age and family income. back to top Florida Respite Coalition- The Florida Respite Coalition (FRC) is creating a statewide system of Lifespan Respite Care Networks that will provide families and caregivers with a single point of entry within their communities to access support and information for respite care services across the lifespan. Through the community-based networks, providers of respite care services (or those interested in establishing respite care programs) will have access to information, training and technical support for delivering quality services. They foster and promote the human rights and well being of children and adults, with spina bifida. They provide education, information, and support to those with spina bifida and their families. back to top Statewide Advocacy Council- The Statewide and Local Advocacy Councils (hereinafter referred to as SAC and LAC) system is a consumer protection mechanism for people receiving services from state agencies in Florida. The idea of citizen councils for human rights protection was conceived at Miami Sunland in 1972, in reaction to abusive conditions at that facility. The councils were implemented at other facilities for individuals with mental retardation and eventually were codified into law in 1975 to serve as a third party mechanism to protect the rights of participants in all programs in what was then the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. You are eligible for help from a Local Advocacy Council in your area if you are a client of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, the Department of Children and Families, the Agency for Health Care Administration or the Department of Elder Affairs, and you have not received a program or a service to which you are entitled, have been abused or neglected or have been denied rights.
