The Youth Advisory Board works to help Childrens Medical Services in Florida and other state agencies understand how what they do affects teens and youth. This group and website is supervised by The Family Resource Coalition, INC, under a contract with CMS.

Many things change in the care of children with special health care needs as they mature, become teens and then adults, and want to make their own way in the world. While we may have some special part of our lives that isn't just like every other kid, we still want to work, go out socially with our friends, and do things that express who we are, and what we want.

By getting involved with the Youth Advisory Board, you can make your voice heard by the people who want to make decisions that affect our lives. Special emotional, medical or mental conditions do not have to stop our lives. We may have a limitation or two, but we are growing, and want to be everything that our lives, our parents, and the systems we work with can help us to be.
